Quan Zhang obtained his PhD in Earth Sciences at the University of Ottawa. He will start a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Australian National University with Prof. Hrvoje Tkalkic in September 2026.

Quan is an avid traveller, and takes every opportunity to do a solo trip to a volcano. He also seeks out opportunities to go on a research cruise to deploy ocean-bottom seismometers, despite getting sea sick every time.
